Restless               Leg               Syndrome               or               RLS               is               a               muscle               disorder               that               makes               a               person               want               to               move               his               legs               frequently               because               of               the               sensations               he               feels               in               them.

The               sensations               become               more               pronounced               during               sleep               or               while               resting,               making               it               difficult               for               a               person               with               RLS               to               rest.

There               are               several               studies               made               which               prove               that               certain               vitamins               and               minerals               can               prevent               or               lessen               the               effect               of               Restless               Leg               Syndrome.

Here's               a               list               of               a               few               of               these               nutrients:
               Vitamin               E
Some               research               finds               that               increasing               the               intake               of               Vitamin               E               to               at               least               three               times               more               than               the               recommended               daily               allowance               can               help               in               relieving               Restless               Leg               Syndrome.

However,               before               taking               massive               doses               of               Vitamin               E,               it               is               wise               to               consult               your               doctor               first               to               determine               if               your               body               may               react               negatively               to               it.

You               should               also               inform               your               doctor               if               you               are               already               taking               other               medications               that               may               interact               with               Vitamin               E               and               cause               adverse               reactions.
               Folate
Folate               is               a               necessary               nutrient               especially               for               pregnant               women.

It               is               a               form               of               Vitamin               B               and               a               deficiency               of               it               during               pregnancy               may               cause               the               baby               to               develop               neural               disorders.

For               the               pregnant               mother,               a               low               level               of               folate               may               also               lead               to               restless               leg               syndrome.

If               you               are               pregnant,               your               doctor               can               easily               check               your               folate               levels               through               blood               tests               and               may               be               able               to               prescribe               the               right               dosage               suitable               for               pregnant               women.
There               are               many               fruits               and               vegetables               rich               in               folate               such               as               broccoli,               cauliflower,               spinach               and               avocado.

There               are               also               inexpensive               folate               supplements               that               are               available               in               most               drug               stores.
               Iron
Iron               is               also               an               important               nutrient               that               should               be               part               of               anyone's               diet.

People,               especially               pregnant               women               who               are               suffering               from               RLS               have               been               found               to               have               low               levels               of               iron.
If               a               person's               diet               is               poor               in               proteins,               it               may               also               result               to               poor               transport               of               iron               into               the               brain               which               may               cause               some               health               problems.

It               is               important               to               check               with               your               doctor               if               you               are               lacking               iron               in               your               diet               and               if               you               need               to               take               iron               supplements.

Some               patients               have               reported               decrease               in               the               incidence               of               RLS               after               being               given               massive               doses               of               iron.

However,               excessive               iron               intake               may               also               lower               blood               pressure               and               cause               headaches,               fainting               and               even               coma.

Before               you               embark               on               an               iron               therapy,               make               sure               that               you               inform               your               doctor               of               the               medications               that               you               are               already               taking,               to               make               sure               that               none               will               interact               negatively               with               iron.
               Magnesium
Magnesium               can               be               derived               from               different               foods               such               as               leafy               vegetables,               fish,               nuts               and               beans.

Adults               over               the               age               of               30               should               have               a               regular               intake               of               at               least               320               milligrams               daily.

It               has               been               observed               that               when               a               person               suffering               from               RLS               takes               a               regular               dose               of               magnesium,               the               symptoms               of               RLS               are               relieved.
RLS               can               cause               discomfort               and               lack               of               sleep.

Although               there               are               medications               available               to               relieve               RLS,               it               is               also               good               to               try               these               vitamins               and               minerals               that               may               have               lesser               side               effects               than               other               medicines.

People               with               RLS               should               first               consult               their               doctor               to               get               the               proper               dosage               of               these               health               supplements               in               order               to               avoid               other               health               risks               that               may               occur               if               over               dosage               occurs.
